Confusion to Clarity: Understanding Financial Aid Options
Our project examined the issues that led to the decision to create a website that would increase financial aid awareness among prospective and current college students and their families. The lack of financial aid literacy among these groups creates a barrier to enrollment, retention and graduation rates in higher education. This is concerning, not only to college administrators, but also to the economic development of our communities as many jobs now require specialized knowledge that must be acquired through post-secondary education. The goal of the project, and the financial aid awareness website, was to explain available financial aid options and to provide referral access to reliable online resources.
